I am back!

I am sitting on my bean bag, at the usual corner at where I put my laptop, in my room here in JB. Ahh yes finally I am back in JB! Actually, it was two weeks ago. Mom frantically called me everyday, updating on our cats who were badly sick from a virus. All of our cats got infected and died eventually. But when Mom called and tell me Krystal (the second cat) who just delivered her babies died, I just couldn't stay still. I cried so bad when finally I texted Mom;

"I wanna go home.... So bad! Boleh?"

"Yes I know you're worried. Go and book you flight ticket"

And I was relieved!

It was two 10 days before Eid al-Adha and I already on plane flying back home.

To see one by one died including the babies was really heart wrenching! I barely had time for myself. We had to sanitized their home, fed them medications (twice a day), fed sick cats who lost appetite, fed the babies when the Mom(s) died, countless trip to different vet clinic and prayers (a lot!) along the way.

Phew.

And lost few kg which I think I will gain back in a few days. Oh no!

And, the last kitten died yesterday :(

I didn't realized I was exhausted until I spent a good 6 hours sleep that morning.

Ok. Move on.

Simple cakes I baked (again) for last Raya. OMG I am so backdated! Huhu. Sorry guys!

Sorry to hear abt ur cat. just to let you know, cats need to be vaccinated yearly (especially impt if you have many cats in your house staying together). on top of that, every month you need to apply the front line tick prevention medicine for them on their fur. this is easily available from all vets in JB. this is to prevent any ticks from getting onto them. ticks can kill cats/dogs by giving them tick fever.

asap when you see your cat sick, you need to bring them to the vet.

in jb, there are several vets, but the 2 that i know is as following:

1. Nusajaya Veterinary - Dr Izuan Zabid - 07 2365822 or 019 2355822. No 65 Jalan Indah 16/12, Taman Bukit Indah, 81200 Johor Bahru

2. Global Pets - they have several branch such as in Bukit Indah, Taman Tun Aminah, Kulai, Nusa Bestari, Mount Austin and Taman University. Contact No: 07 512 3344 for the nusa bestari branch. Both clinics have house call too if you are unable to get to the clinic yourself. Global Pets is usually crowded so waiting time is longer. I prefer Nusajaya Veterinary.

Let me know if you need any other information on cats and I can assist you.

Regards,
Sally

Thank you for your concern & information Sally :) Real thank you.

Yes we did get them vaccinated, but when I started working years ago, everyone seems to not bother on taking my duty anymore. And I usually was left alone, carrying all those carriers to the vet. They didn't provide house call back then. We did asked around. So when the rest of the cats got sick, to our surprised, most of the clinic started to offer house call!

I think we had a bad experience with Dr. Izuan. He is mom's friend but.... ahh let it be hihi. Well, we had bad experiences with most of the vets!

Have yet to try Global Pets! Maybe we should give them a call.

We seriously need to get them vaccinated/booster by this week before I leave them with the rest of the family.

Again, thank you so much :D

Hi Kookie,

If you dont mind, can share with me what was the bad experience you had with Dr I? Cos recently I bring my puppy there..just a little scared if i also experience any bad experience.

If you go to Global Pets, you can call them first before you drop by. Some good Doctors there are from the Pet Resort Branch (Dr Winda - Indonesian doctor) and Nusa Bestari Branch (Dr Sanny Ong, Dr Lee Ee Liang, Dr Tan Check Nam - Senior Doctor)

when it comes to pet and vets, i can assure you not one vet is super duper good. Last time i bring my pet to Dr Koh in Tebrau KK Kam building. After one jab, my pet start to get fits and he passed away.

Well, maybe because he's lack in experience? We brought one of the sick cat/mom, he put him on drip and we admitted her for a day together with 5 babies. When we came the next day to pick her up, she was soaked in her own urine, and so did the babies. He claimed that she urinated a lot because of the drip, but, I mean, me and my mom also in the medical line. We know that there must be something wrong with you if you cant stop peeing, right? And my cat kept on urinating non stop :( All night!

Also, when we check the babies before we brought them back, two of the babies macam dah weak. We asked him he said, 'they're moving so they're ok'. My sister and I couldn't stop asking each other because we knew that was not ok.

The two babies died that night.

It was so depressing!

The next day we brought the sick cat/mom to another vet in Johor Jaya. They immediately admitted her, put her on Vit drip (Dr. I just gave normal saline)and got few jabs.

She died three days later, at the clinic. Well at least I know she can actually survive but maybe the virus was too strong.

Because she was not ok when we brought her back from Dr. I.

There are few on my 'bad vet' list if you want. Maybe you can give me your email we can share more via email?
